Hi. We are Sandy and Doug Finnicum, and we have a 175-acre ranch in Garnett, Kansas. Sandy‘s parents and brother started ranching in this area about 20 years ago, and we started in 2007. We have been lucky to enough to eat "family" beef raised on grass by our relatives or ourselves. Knowing where your food comes from is priceless. I have found grass-fed beef to be delicious and naturally lean. In addition, we discovered that it stays fresh much longer when thawed compared to grocery store beef. When we began raising our own cattle, we began researching beef. This meant learning about cows and grass! Sandy is particularly interested in the animals‘ health, nutrition, and reproduction. Doug has become the expert on grass which is the natural and best food for cows.
We are committed to using sustainable and environmentally-friendly ranching practices. And, we have been working towards a model where we sell cattle finished only on grass for several years. We have read about and researched grass-fed meat. In addition, we acquired and implemented a grant from Kansas to improve our pastures with natural prairie grass! We currently, raise about 25 cow-calf pairs each year. We love selling grass-fed beef and feel strongly that is a best practice model for providing high quality food. Why should anyone choose to eat grass-fed beef? We can give you 3 reasons. First, it is healthier. Second, it is better for the animal. And, third, it is better for the environment. If you interested in more about these reasons and documentation, please refer to the Why Grass Finished section of this site
We knew then that we raised the healthiest option for our own family
and we want to offer you and yours the same healthy beef!
